New Name

Claire: I want to change my name.

Betsy: Really? To what?

Claire: Lily.

Betsy: Lily is pretty, but I love the name Claire.

Claire: It's too short. Plus sometimes it sounds angry.

Betsy: Well.... ah....um...you mean when I say your name loudly when I'm really mad?

Claire: Yeah.

Betsy: Well, that's not the name, that's me. And "LILY!" will still sound sort of angry, right?

Claire: Yeah, well, not as much. Plus I'm changing my middle name.

Betsy: You can't. Sorry. Eliza is your grandmother's name and was your great-great grandmother's name. No can do. Plus, you like that name.

Claire: OK. But sometimes, just call me Lily.
